HONEST SERVICES, PURE INTENTIONS & SINCERE ACTION ARE THE BASE FOR OUR INITIATIVES

Services executed for 2017

Our volunteer Mentors, Project and Case Managers have successfully conducted ESL, Tutoring, Citizenship, Professional Sewing and Job readiness classes for refugees from different ethnicities, such as Somali, Congolese, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Syrian, Burmese, Burundian and Sudanese. The have also provided Housing Assistance, case management and translation services for newly arrived refugees. A total of 171 refugees have benefitted from our noble services from January to July 2017, distributed as per follows; 27 for ESL & Tutoring; 14 for Professional Sewing; 41 for Job Readiness; 17 for Job Placement; 45 for Housing Assistance and 27 for Interpretation/ translation and Case Management services

We always encourage sharing ideas that might lead to practical solutions to best serve our diverse refugee community, who arrives with some unique and challenges. The main goal is increasing civic engagement and a commitment to programs that equip refugees to actively participate in addressing critical issues in their communities. Basically our common goal is to educate refugee for a meaningful empowerment process to become productive law-abiding citizens and to achieve economic and social self-sufficiency. Indeed we are the bridge and catalyst for positive change in our community. Our task is daunting, our resources are stretched thinner and yes, while we are moving toward success in our advocacy, case management, education, empowerment and self-sufficiency programs, removing obstacle and barriers, we recognize that yet, there is much to do and many challenges to face.

Thank you!

SOMALI AMERICAN UNITED COUNCIL IS WISHING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY A LOVELY AND VERY HAPPY 4TH OF JULY:

What makes America exceptional is how we are all working to live up to our high values, building the great democracy we all enjoy and what binds America’s blend of cultures is a sincere belief that the people who make up this society are ONE NATION UNDER GOD, with the principles deeply held and defended by all Americans, such as DEMOCRACY, EQUITY, JUSTICE AND FREEDOM, which are the founding principles of our GREAT NATION.

Thomas Jefferson’s words from July 4, 1776 ring as true today as they did then: “That all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”We can all proudly admit that America is the best country to immigrate to and we are so lucky to be the product of a compassionate and inclusive immigration policy in a country with such a rich heritage and culture.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL &

MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMRICA

Thank you!
